ABOUT THE LAW-REVIEW

The NLIU Law Review is a peer-reviewed, student edited journal of the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. The bi-annual journal seeks to inculcate a niche for comprehensive legal research and extensive analysis among law students over emerging dimensions of law in its diverse spectrums. Our previous two issues have received an increasingly positive response from the legal fraternity which has inspired us to bring forth our third volume as a special issue.

ABOUT THE ISSUE

We solicit submissions for Volume 2 Number 2 to be published in September 2011 with the special theme “Judicial Accountability: An Evolving Paradigm”.

The demand of citizens to obtain information, transparency and accountability from state institutions clearly depict the rising aspirations of the people. With the Judicial Accountability Bill promising a new era of such transparency and accountability, it is highly pertinent to intensely analyse and deliberate upon the same.  Furthering the aim of the Law Review as a medium of intellectual discussion and a platform for debate on emerging legal issues, we have dedicated our next issue to this vast and passionately debated area.

The journal invites prescriptive and argumentatively focused contributions from authors on the below mentioned sub-themes:

1. The Judicial Standards and Judicial Accountability Bill, 2010

2. Legislative and Judicial Trends in Judicial Accountability in India

3. Need of a Watchdog for the Judiciary

4. Right to Information as an Instrument of Judicial Accountability

5. Judicial Accountability and Independence of the Judiciary

However, there is no restriction whatsoever with respect to the above mentioned sub-themes. The authors are free to narrow their research towards any specific issue within the ambit of these sub-themes. Original academic submissions of 4000- 8000 words are invited for this issue. Co-authorship is allowed upto a maximum of two authors.  Plagiarism is thoroughly detested. Manuscripts submitted must not have been published or considered for publishing elsewhere. The deadline for submission is 15th June, 2011.
